March   2004               Fair Milk Price Autopsy Report        Christopher Brooks
Cause of death : Corporate monopoly price strangulation, corrupted trade arteries, drought induced

Prelude   Our autopsy must cut deep beyond the familiar visible landscape of the industry organs
that breathe life into our milk price, focusing our concentration on the very critical issue of POWER
and how it affects the dynamics of our social and economic life.

1. The fundamental building blocks of all society are the morals, principles and values that inspire,
drive and discipline the political and economic fabric of a community.

2. It is an indisputable, ageless truth that the measure of success of human beings in association is
directly relative to the correctness or error of the social dynamic.

3. Australian society, rooted in our democratic constitutional  heritage based upon freedom within
the boundaries of law and justice, has well proven its value as a system that   enables individual
economic freedom confined within a structure that satisfies human self motivation but protects
against the potential dangers of concentrated power.

4. Defensive statutory and regulatory mechanisms are the practical, essential constitutional
manifestations of a civilised, fair and moral society.

5. They are the indispensable law and order of the dairy industry vindicated because at no time or
place ever has power been unshackled from the confines of checks and balances without a
progressive erosion of justice, social harmony and broad economic prosperity.

6. “Free Markets” and “Trade Reform” dismantle constitutional self governing mechanisms in the
name of “competition” resulting in trade controlled by monopolies.
Monopolies instinctively devour, or be devoured, progressively concentrating power
replacing self government with a corporate dictatorship over our lives.
The value and dividends we create are now claimed by those with the power to do so.

7. Decades of “trade reform” propaganda have mesmerised milk producers into a
mindset of accepting the  “inevitability” of declining real terms of trade in dramatic contradiction to
the expanding physical and social potential of our abundant nation.

8. The “Free Market” Industry Policy is a FAILURE for milk producers.
The disastrous failure of our milk price to respond with any degree of sympathy towards exploding
drought input costs justifies this  resounding judgement be brought upon the “market reform”
“Globalisation” dairy industry policy.

9. It is only rational, responsible and logical that milk producers take whatever steps are necessary
to protect our farm gate sovereignty, restore a just measure of farm gate power and resuscitate our
milk price.  Any contrary opinion is surely unsound.

10. The Corporate friendly propaganda has successfully persuaded many farmers that their
powerless position as “price takers” is natural and a just price is impossible.
This propaganda destroys our instinctive self defence creating confusion and division.

A milk price that has integrity will naturally follow when enough milk producers put integrity back into
our political action at every junction of choice we have available.   eg   Factory, Co-op, Industry,
Electorate, Media and Community

While farmers remain mesmerised in support of a lower milk price policy they will be guaranteed to
get a low milk price result.

Our corporate masters along with their willing assistants are very pleased indeed.
